Dear LRRP/Ranger Families,
A quick update on our reunion/convention/meeting in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. We started working on the site last June 2018 and had final contracts ready to sign the week of November 11, 2018. We were all prepared to report in the Ranger Patrolling Magazine when we were called by the hotel and informed that the facility was purchased by another large chain and they were not going to honor the original contract. This presented immediate problems as I was to submit an article to Patrolling on our rendezvous meeting at the Sheraton in Philadelphia. We were not prepared to go to press without meeting time and place. I had talked to members of our organization about the price (Philadelphia City proper was very expensive). Dave Hill and others suggested that we work to get a more reasonable price and that became my focus.
I just signed with the Holiday Inn on the outskirt of Philadelphia for the 2nd week in June for a cost of $94. Dollars a night which includes free breakfast and free parking. This is more than 100% cheaper than Center City Philadelphia. I coordinated a “surf and turf” dinner for Saturday night (our final night). At the dinner we will be recognized by the New Jersey Special Forces Association, the 82nd Airborne Association of Philadelphia will be our Color Guard for the evening, Presenting and retiring the colors.
We, the LRRP/Rangers of I Co, 1st Infantry Division) will be recognized individually by the State Senate of Pennsylvania and the City of Philadelphia with individual Resolutions for our service and sacrifice during and after the Vietnam War.
I have contracted a bus trip into Philadelphia led by Police to see the Betsy Ross House, America's First Post Office, The US Constitution Center, Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell and the Rocky Statute for photo ops. We have a half day trip planned to see Washington Crossing State Park and Pennsburry Manor where the proprietor that established the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania lived during his famous “Indian Purchase”. Our final night dinner will be attended by many dignitaries that want to Salute our LRRP/Ranger Unit.
We have a hospitality suite and a Board Room to conduct registration and any business that may present itself. We can bring food and beverage on the hotel premise.
The address of the hotel is as follows:
Holiday Inn
3327 Street Road
Bensalem, Pennsylvania 19020
Hotel Front Desk Telephone – 1 (215) 639-9100
Note – when making reservations please say you are with the 75th Rangers to receive your special discount and breakfast buffet coupons.
Note- I will be emailing our unit every two weeks now that we have the specifics and contracts in place.
